Kodak Motion Picture Film Label System Design
Led the creative for the VERITA 200D label system for Kodak, translating a new motion picture film stock into a precise, scalable visual system across multiple formats.
Scope
Design and execution of labeling and supporting assets for the launch of VERITA 200D, a new motion picture film from Kodak.
The project required working within strict brand and packaging guidelines while introducing a new SKU into an established motion picture film system. Deliverables needed to function across multiple film formats, each with unique physical and production constraints.
Role & Approach
I worked within a highly constrained design system, focusing on clarity, precision, and restraint.
The approach centered on translating technical product information into a clean, legible visual hierarchy, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints while maintaining the integrity of Kodak’s legacy brand.
Within those constraints, I introduced a high-contrast, wavy filmstrip motif as a subtle visual element—an abstract reference to motion picture film and the interplay of light and shadow. The goal was to add a sense of movement without disrupting the overall system.
The design was adapted across 35mm, 65mm, 16mm, and Super 8 formats, requiring careful consideration of scale, typography, and spacing to maintain readability and consistency in both digital and physical applications. Each variation was optimized for production accuracy and manufacturability.
Outcome
Delivered a cohesive set of production-ready assets that integrated seamlessly into Kodak’s motion picture film lineup.
The work successfully introduced a new film stock while maintaining brand consistency, technical clarity, and visual restraint across multiple formats. It also established a flexible framework for extending the design across additional SKUs and applications.
